MCLEAN ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE
AGREEMENT
PREPAID ELECTRIC SERVICE PROGRAM
The undersigned (hereinafter called the "Member") hereby applies for participation in the Prepaid Electric Service Program offered to members of McLean Electric Cooperative (hereinafter called the "Cooperative") and agrees with the Cooperative to the following terms and conditions:
- The Member shall purchase electric energy from the Cooperative in accordance with the present and any future rate schedule of the Cooperative on a prepaid basis for the above referenced account.
- The Member understands that the terms and conditions set forth in the Member's Application for Membership and/or Electric Service continue to apply in addition to the terms and conditions of this Agreement and Prepaid Program.
- The Member must be able to receive email messages regarding account balances, as well as disconnect or reconnect messages. The email account must be easy to access on a regular basis so that the Member receives notifications in a timely manner.
- Any deposit fee previously paid by the Member to the Cooperative will be applied to the Member's outstanding balance at the commencement of participation in the Prepaid Program, and any credit remaining after application of the deposit fee shall be applied to the Member's Pre-Pay account balance.
- As a result of participation in the Prepaid Program, the Member will NOT be mailed a monthly statement for electric usage or other applicable fees or charges. Members cannot be enrolled in Budget Billing or Automatic Payment programs.
- A minimum payment of $50.00 must be applied to establish a prepaid account.
- A minimum payment of $15.00 must be applied to the account when submitting a payment via SmartHub. Cash payment may be made at our office with no minimum amount.
- The Member shall be responsible for regularly monitoring the balance on the Prepaid account and understands that the electric service will be subject to disconnection without any written notification from the Cooperative to the Member once the balance of the account reaches zero ($0.00).
- The Member shall pay any bad check, return payment fees, and service fees, and further agrees that all such applicable fees (including disconnection fees) are required to be paid in full before any Member payments are applied to the balance of the Prepaid Account.
- The Member understands that the medical and health conditions of any person located at the address where electric service is furnished by Cooperative and/or inclement weather conditions or temperatures will not postpone disconnection of electric service.
- Prepaid accounts shall not be eligible for other payment arrangements with the Cooperative. You need to budget carefully since energy assistance shall not be applied until received as payment on the Member's Prepaid account. Maintaining a credit balance on the account is the Member's responsibility.
- If a Member changes any of the contact information (i.e., email address, phone number) provided on this agreement, it is the responsibility of the Member to notify the Cooperative of any such changes immediately.
- The Cooperative reserves the right to remove any Member from the Prepaid program at any time, without consent or notification. The Cooperative reserves the 1·ight to modify or end this program anytime.
- If the Member wishes to exit the Prepaid program and continue to have an active service with the Cooperative, they will be subject to all existing deposit requirements as outlined in Board policies. If, while on the Prepaid Program, the Member has not been disconnected nor had any NSF transactions, no deposit will be required.
- If a Member wishes to discontinue service, the Member shall be refunded any credit balance on the prepaid account.
